By far the most common type of laminate flooring is that which imitates wooden surfaces. It is quite amazing how flexible the aesthetic of laminate flooring can truly be—it is able to imitate a range of woods including shades of cherry ,mahogany, birch, beech, oak, teak, and pine. Of course other materials can also be emulated by the visually flexible laminate flooring; these include marble and even granite.

The effectiveness of laminate flooring can be understood only if one examines the method with which it is constructed in the first place. Laminate flooring is comprised mostly of synthetic materials—such as melamine resin—and a decorative appliqué designed to resemble whichever natural material was chosen. The finish, usually made of aluminum oxide, completes the flawless look of laminate flooring and gives it its trademark impermeable quality. The different sections of a laminate floor, once joined together, form a singular whole with no need for extraneous binding materials (glue, cement, etc.)

Functionally, the laminate flooring cannot be beat. It is simply one of the easiest floor-types to clean and one of the hardest to damage. It can even be used in bathrooms where water will not affect its beautiful look. A foam-like layer, additionally, allows the floor to absorb a good portion of sound—effectively allowing laminate flooring to share some qualities with its carpeted counterpart.

The last important feature inherent to laminate flooring is definitely how easy it is to care for it. There is very little maintenance necessary—it is enough to simply clean your floor for it to stay in good shape (and avoid scratching it with dust and dirt.) Laminate flooring has much to offer you and your home.
