area rugs

Everyone knows that what turns a simple house into a warm and comfortable home are the small and loving details.  An area rug is a perfect example of one of these details: an area rug can put a special flair into a previously lackluster or generic room.  They provide a great foundation for a well rounded and well decorated room.

When choosing an area rug, many things need to be taken into account, as they come in virtually endless shapes and sizes.  It is important to first measure a room in order to determine what size area rug you will require. Many people enjoy placing an area rug in their hallways, under the dinner table, or even just in random little corners of the house.  An area rug can also be used to add a personal touch to a bedroom: they can say a lot about a person’s personality and taste.

An area rug can be made of synthetic materials, or more traditional materials such as cotton.  Usually, a cotton area rug – often times heirloom quality masterpieces – will be significantly more expensive then an area rug of synthetic materials.  Regardless, there are many styles to chose from: from floral, contemporary, casual and traditional to name only a few.

The handy thing about any area rug, however, is that they require no installation and thus can be moved (until you find that perfect spot) extremely easily.  Furthermore, they work to absorb much of the noise that would usually be made on a floor of harder material (such as tile or granite).

An area rug can also make a great housewarming gift to family members, old friends or even young couples.  It is a practical gift, which at the same time can be very special and personal.  If someone is looking to decorate a brand new room, or to revamp an old room, an area rug is one of the fastest, cheapest and most effective ways to go about doing this.
